The Community Foundation administers 35 scholarship programs. Many have their own application process, but the programs below use the St. Louis Graduates’ Scholarship Central, a common scholarship application.  This enables students to apply for all programs for which they are eligible on one form as well as access other private scholarships in the region.

Program Description:  The George A. Decker Memorial Scholarship Program will annually award one or more scholarships to students from Festus High School in Jefferson County or Hancock Place High School in St. Louis County seeking a post-secondary education on a full-time or part-time basis at a regionally accredited college or university, or a certified trade school or technical school, that confers Associate of Applied Science, Associate or Baccalaureate degrees within the State of Missouri.
Eligibility Criteria:  Graduating senior from Festus High School or Hancock Place High School. Eligible to graduate. Have demonstrated an exemplary record of hard work, diligence, persistence, and ambition to succeed.
Selection Criteria:  Preference given to students who have demonstrated an exemplary record of hard work, diligence persistence, ambition to succeed as reflected in the essay and letters of recommendation.

K. Ann Dempsey Honors Scholarship

Program Description:  The K. Ann Dempsey Honors Scholarship Fund was established in May 1997 at the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation by Dr. K. Ann Dempsey, who taught at St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley (SLCC-FV) for many years and served as Coordinator of the Honors Program.  The K. Ann Dempsey Honors Scholarship opportunity is for SLCC-FV Honors eligible students.
Eligibility Criteria:  To be eligible, a student must have completed one Honors course or contract with Honors credit and have earned a 3.5 or above cumulative grade point average at SLCC-FV.
Selection Criteria:  Recommendations for award recipients are based on Honors Committee evaluation of the applicant’s academic performance and the quality of essays and the content of the letters of recommendation.  Final selection and award amount are the responsibility of the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation.

The Friends of Saint Louis Municipal School of Nursing Scholarship

Program Description:  The Friends of Saint Louis Municipal School of Nursing Scholarship is open to academically qualified undergraduate students attending accredited nursing programs located in the City of St. Louis who have demonstrated financial need.  Students may be pursuing a diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in nursing attending part or full time.The Friends of Saint Louis Municipal School of Nursing was established in 1954 to provide all manner of support to students in the nursing program that prepared nurses to work at City Hospital.  The Friends’ legacy lives on through this scholarship program established at the Community Foundation in 2007.
Eligibility Criteria:  Nursing students pursuing diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degrees in nursing full or part-time at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing, Saint Louis University School of Nursing, St. Louis Community College at Forest Park or Lutheran School of Nursing.
Selection Criteria:  Students with demonstrated financial need who are making satisfactory progress.
Awards:   Typically multiple awards between $500 and $1,000

Dennis G. Glore Memorial Scholarship Fund

Program Description:  The Dennis G. Glore Memorial Scholarship Fund was established at the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation by the Greater St. Louis Foodservice Industry Council (GSLFIC) in 1996 to honor the memory of Dennis G. Glore, an independent foodservice designer and consultant, for the purpose of providing scholarships to needy, academically promising, second semester or more advanced students attending an approved Hospitality Studies or Culinary Arts Program in the St. Louis area.
Eligibility Criteria:  Students must be in the second semester or more advanced point in their program of study, enrolled in a hospitality service or culinary arts program, and have a 2.5 or above GPA.  Eligible programs: St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, East Central College, St. Louis University, L’Ecole Culinaire
Selection Criteria:  Applicants will be judged on their overall record, need and goals for the future. Scholarship selection and award amount are the responsibility of the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation after consultation with the Glore Scholarship Advisory Board.

The Fred E. Kiefer and Florence E. Kiefer Scholarship

Program Description:  Established in 1997 by St. Louis residents Fred and Florence Kiefer, the Kiefer Scholarship will support young men and women who reside in the St. Louis, Missouri, metropolitan area who would otherwise be unable to obtain post-secondary education.
Eligibility Criteria:  Based on the goals of Mr. and Mrs. Kiefer, recipients of the scholarship award will 1) reside in St. Louis, 2) be an active member of a church, 3) maintain at least a B academic record (3.0 on a 4-point scale), and 4) have no police record.
Selection Criteria:  Recipients will demonstrate evidence of church involvement, academic strength, financial need, will certify that they have no police record.

Dr. Ciriaco “Jerry” Memmolo Memorial Scholarship

Program Description:  The Dr. Ciriaco “Jerry” Memmolo Memorial Scholarship was established by Rizziero and Asteria Memmolo to perpetuate the memory of their son, Dr. Jerry Memmolo, a general surgeon at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, by providing scholarships to employees and children of employees of St. Anthony’s Medical Center who are in healthcare fields of study.
Eligibility Criteria:  Employee or dependent child of employee of St. Anthony’s Medical Center. Must demonstrate financial need as a full time student at an accredited trade school, college or university. Applicant will be either: 1) an employee enrolled in a certificate or undergraduate degree program that will either improve his or her work in a clinical healthcare field; or 2) a dependent child of an employee enrolled in a healthcare field of study.
Selection Criteria:  Financial need and enrolled in a healthcare field of study.

Bobby Orf #17 Scholarship

Program Description:  The Bobby Orf #17 Scholarship recognizes the achievements of individuals who have experienced success as hockey players by providing financial assistance toward the student’s continuing education.  Individuals who are recipients of the award will have demonstrated success in the classroom and on the ice and will exhibit the characteristics of strength, courage and determination that defined the life of Bobby Orf, a Lafayette High School hockey player.
Eligibility Criteria:  High school seniors from the St. Louis region who are dedicated hockey players
Selection Criteria:  Success in the classroom and on the ice who can demonstrate characteristics of strength, courage and determination.

Program Description:  The Bobby Orf #17 Friends Scholarship for students who have received services from the Friends of Kids with Cancer recognizes the achievements of individuals who have experienced cancer or another significant disease by providing financial assistance toward the student’s continuing education.  Recipients of the award will have demonstrated success in the classroom and will exhibit the characteristics of strength, courage and determination that defined the life of Bobby Orf.  Preference will be given to applicants from the St. Louis region (Missouri and Illinois).
Eligibility Criteria:  High School seniors or current college students who have received services from Friends of Kids with Cancer who have experienced cancer or other significant diseaxes.
Selection Criteria:  Demonstrated success in the classroom and evidence of the characteristics of strength, courage and determination that defined the life of Bobby Orf.

The William C. and Bertha Black Rhoda Scholarship

Source:  Estate of William C. Rhoda
Program Description:  The William C. and Bertha Black Rhoda Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 from the estate of William Clarence Rhoda in memory of his wife, Bertha Black Rhoda.  Mrs. Rhoda was a teacher at Vashon High School in St. Louis for many years and was known for her exceptional success with students who had special learning needs.  Mrs. Rhoda received many distinguished awards in her lifetime including the 1969 Globe Democrat Woman of Achievement Award, 1969 Distinguished Alumni Award, Indiana State University, and the 1973 National Volunteer Award from President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Eligibility Criteria:  African American students. Preference given to graduating seniors from Vashon High School. Recipient may attend accredited two-year or four-year college of his/her choice.
Selection Criteria:  African-American students, evidence of strong character and ambition to succeed.  Preference given to graduates of Vashon High School, St. Louis Public Schools.

St. Anthony’s Medical Center Foundation Academic Excellence Scholarship

Program Description:  Made possible through the generosity of the St. Anthony Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors, this scholarship seeks to award children of the Medical Center’s full time and regular part time staff (who have been employed at least one year) who have achieved academic excellence (at least a 3.5 GPA) and will be full time undergraduate students at a regionally accredited four year Missouri college or university or any of Southern Illinois University’s five campuses or the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Eligibility Criteria:  Dependent children of St. Anthony Medical Center’s full time and regular part time staff (who have been employed at least one year) who have achieved academic excellence (at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4 point scale) and will be full time undergraduate students at a regionally accredited four year Missouri college or university or any of Southern Illinois University’s five campuses or the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Employees of SAMC are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Selection Criteria:  Preference will be given to those academically qualified eligible applicants who also demonstrate the St. Anthony values of “excellence through teamwork and mutual respect” as well as “compassion and respect for all persons.”

St. Anthony’s Medical Center Norbert Siegfried Scholarship for Sons & Daughters of Employees

Program Description:  The St. Anthony’s Medical Center Norbert Siegfried Scholarship for Sons and Daughters of Employees is open to dependent children of the Medical Center’s full time and regular part time staff (who have been employed at least one year) who demonstrate financial need as full time undergraduate students at a regionally accredited four year Missouri college or university or at any of Southern Illinois University’s five campuses or the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Employees of SAMC are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria:  Dependent child of employee of St. Anthony’s Medical Center.  3.0 gpa required to apply. Demonstrate financial need at any Missouri four year college, any Southern Illinois University campus or the University of Illinois.

St. Louis Graduates Scholarship

Program Description:  The St. Louis Graduates Scholarship provides a renewable $1,000 scholarship award to students with financial need who understand the connection between success and they goals they set and the choices they make, and can demonstrate the drive and ambition necessary to succeed at the college level.

Established in 2012 to help ensure more low-income and first-generation students have the support they need to complete a postsecondary degree, the St. Louis Graduates Scholarship Fund enables members of the community to provide financial aid
through a community funded scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria: 

• High School Senior from the St. Louis region*
• First generation of family to attend college full time
• Demonstrated unmet financial need at an accredited US college or university

*Geographic eligibility restricted to residents of the City of St. Louis, the Missouri counties of St. Louis, Saint Charles, Jefferson, Franklin, Lincoln, Washington and Warren, and the Illinois counties of Madison, Saint Clair, Clinton, Monroe, Bond, Calhoun, Macoupin and Jersey.

Selection Criteria:  Students awarded the St. Louis Graduates Scholarship will demonstrate:  drive and ambition to succeed at the college level and an understanding of the connection between success and the goals one sets and the choices one makes.
Students will be evaluated on

• the quality of the application, including the essay
• strength of the recommendations
• demonstration of financial need.

Preference may be given to students who are in the first generation of their family to attend college full time.

St. Louis Municipal Bond Club Clark and Mildred Cox Scholarship

Program Description:  The St. Louis Municipal Bond Club Clark and Mildred Cox Scholarship is open to academically qualified (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) students who will attend college full time at an accredited college or university pursuing an undergraduate degree. The St. Louis Municipal Bond Club established this Scholarship program by its members in 1995 to encourage academic excellence for its membership and their families.  In 1999 the scholarship program received a significant gift from the Clark Cox Trust that allowed it to expand in scope and reach.
Eligibility Criteria:  Those eligible to apply include:  full-time employees of a St. Louis Municipal Bond Club member firm and their immediate family members, retired full time employees of member firms, and the immediate family members of retired employees, the immediate family members of now deceased full time employees, St. Louis Municipal Bond Club members and their immediate family members, and retired St. Louis Municipal Bond Club members and their immediate family members. Immediate family includes spouse, dependent children and dependent grandchildren.  Preference will be given to applicants from the St. Louis area and to Municipal Bond Department employees of member firms and their families.  Current St. Louis Municipal Bond Club Firms:

Awards:   Two awards. One $1,000 award will be renewable for an additional three years of study, provided the recipient continues to attend full time and make satisfactory progress toward his or her degree. In addition, one (1) one-time $2,000 scholarship will be awarded.

Triple A Ranch Scholarship

Program Description:  The Triple A Ranch Scholarship is open to students from the greater St. Louis region who are considered first generation college students and who demonstrate financial need as full time students at a regionally accredited two or four year college or university. 

The Triple A Ranch Scholarship program was established by William S. Anheuser shortly before his death at age 98 to provide financial support and a vote of confidence to area students who are working to improve themselves and their community through advanced education.  The name of the scholarship recalls Mr. Anheuser’s ranch in south central Missouri where he raised prized Aberdeen-Angus cattle and learned a great deal about life and the value of hard work.  Mr. Anheuser hoped to support students he described as “pulling themselves up by their bootstraps.”

Eligibility Criteria: 

• High School Senior from the St. Louis region*
• First generation of family to attend college full time
• Demonstrated unmet financial need at an accredited US college or university

Program Description:  The Fred Weber, Sr. Memorial Scholarship is open to High school seniors who are children of full-time employees of Fred Weber, Inc. or a subsidiary company or children of a person who was a full-time employee of Fred Weber, Inc. or a subsidiary company at the time of his or her death.
Eligibility Criteria:  The Fred Weber, Sr. Memorial Scholarship is open to children of full-time employees of Fred Weber, Inc. or a subsidiary company or children of a person who was a full-time employee of Fred Weber, Inc. or a subsidiary company at the time of his or her death.  A full-time employee is defined as a person, either union or non-union, who worked more than 1,000 hours in the twelve-month period prior to the application deadline, and who, on the application deadline date, is considered an active employee of the company.  In the case of a deceased parent, the parent must have worked 1,000 hours in the twelve-month period prior to his or her death.  Children of officers and directors are not eligible. The candidate must be a senior in high school planning to enroll as a full-time student, as defined by the collegiate institution attended, in a two- or four-year college accredited by its regional accrediting association.
Selection Criteria:  Selection will be based on the candidate’s scholastic record, participation in school and community activities, and academic potential at the college level.

Zimmer Family Scholarship

Program Description:  Established by Edgar O. Zimmer to recognize the potential of the youth in his beloved Monroe County, IL, this scholarship is awarded to students who attend Monroe County schools who have good character, entrepreneurial spirit, academic promise and loyalty to Monroe County.
Eligibility Criteria:  Graduating seniors from Columbia High School, Gibault Catholic High School, Valmeyer High School and Waterloo High School in Monroe County, IL . Finalists are recommended by the student’s high school based on all criteria except determination of financial need.
Selection Criteria:  Evidence of good moral character, academic promise, leadership or entrepreneurial spirit.  Financial need.
Awards:   Awards of up to $5,000 to 3 graduates of Waterloo High School, 3 graduates of Columbia High School, one graduate of Valmeyer High School and one graduate of Gibault Catholic High School.
